Etruscan Majolica Utility Ware

In 2010 I delivered lectures on Etruscan Majolica at the meeting of the Majolica International Society in Dallas and at the Phoenixville Historical Society. My interest at the time was to promote my new books on the company. My lecture included short videos on each of the major themes the Etruscan Works explored in its production.

Etruscan Ivory toilet ware

I thought readers who didn't see the original presentation would be interested in seeing some of the videos I prepared for it here in this blog.

The fifth video I’m going to present in this series shows the utility pieces the company made. These pieces were intended for everyday use and as a result were less elaborate than some other pieces the company made. Many of them are sanitary ware, part of the toilet set made for the bedroom and marked Etruscan Ivory. Also included is the toy tea set designed for Alice Smith, David Smith’s youngest daughter.

To view the previous videos here is a list by topic: Animals; Leaves; Flowers; and Shell and Coral.

Detailed descriptions of all these pieces appear in the book. The book also explores Ivory Ware and Venicine, two other decoration forms used with these pieces. A link to the book on Amazon is found above as well as on the sidebar to the right.

Enjoy the video.
